Fistpump(s) of the Day - 3/2/2009

One unfortunate thing about the extended Fistpumps.com hiatus was all the great fistpumping events that went uncovered. In an attempt to right past wrongs, I am going one week back in time and covering my favorite fistpumping event of the year. Some could argue, what I witnessed last weekend inspired me to reconnect with my inner fistpump.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the greatest fistpumping event since well the 2008 edition: The 2009 Bassmaster Classic. For those of you who haven't been introduced to the Classic, let me give you a quick Bassmasters Classic 101. 51 anglers qualify for the most exclusive and richest professional bass fishing tournament in the world; it's one part PGA Tour golf and one part NASCAR. This year the event was held on the Red River near Shreveport, LA.
Could there be anything better than a Bassmaster Classic/Mardi Gras Vacation?

The competition is broken up into three days each followed by a very public weigh-in. What makes the weigh-ins so great is the drama created by brilliant staging and the uncertainty of who caught what. One-by-one each competitor pulls his boat and trailer into the arena and onto a stage. Then, like a red-necked magician he pulls fish out of the boats' live-well and presents them to the thousands of fans in attendance like each one is Moby Dick. Unfortunately from some, they'd have better luck weighing their dicks.
The current leader gets to sit on stage in the "Hot Seat" and await the impending awkward moment when he's forced to rejoin the rest of the losers backstage
2nd Place finisher, Michael Iaconelli, celebrates taking the lead; though his reign was shortlived.

As 50 contestants watched in awe. One man, Reese Skeet, took the trophy and the memories of all who watched as he fistpumped his way out of the pack and onto the top step.
